- Is there a cost for spectators to watch any part of the championships?
No – this is a free event

I live on Brighton Road – will my wheelie bin still be emptied on the regular day?
Yes – residential rubbish collection in the Scarborough area will not be disrupted by the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships.
- Will there be an increased police presence around the Scarborough Beach area during the event?
Yes – The City of Stirling and the Surf Life Saving Association are working very closely with the WA Police and there will be a staffed Police booth/station on the beach for the duration of the event, plus City of Stirling Security Officers and private security officers will be in force also at Scarborough Beach and surrounds.
- Will I still be able to access the Luna Shopping Centre during the event?
Yes - There are likely to be some restrictions in terms of the shopping centre car park, however residents will still be able to access the centre to do their shopping. More details closer to the event.
- I would like to billet/accommodate some of the competitors in my house during the championships. Who do I need to contact?

- Is there likely to be a big influx of competitors/visitors in the weeks leading up to the event?
There is an expectation that approximately 10% of the competitors/visitors will arrive prior to the start of the event.

Will I be able to swim at Scarborough Beach during the event?
The area from Brighton Beach to south of Trigg beach will be closed to the public for swimming each day of the event from 7:00am to 4:00pm (Tuesday 17 March-Sunday 22 March), although it likely that the event may finish earlier on Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday (between 2:00pm and 3:00pm).

Will I be able to drink alcohol at the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships?
No, the Aussies is an alcohol free event

How many people are expected to attend the championships?
It is anticipated that around 8000 competitors and up to 50,000 spectators will come to the event

What are the best days to watch the Aussies?
The Masters events (men and women over 30 years of age) will be contested on Tuesday and Wednesday will be interstates. Heats of all the open events will start on Thursday, with key finals and the iron man and iron women events on Sunday.

Will the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships be televised?
Yes, Channel 7 will cover the event and broadcast a highlight show after the event is concluded. |
