Bushlands

There are approximately 616 hectares of bushland in the City of Stirling, scattered throughout the City in 68 separate reserves ranging in size from 0.2 hectares to 100 or more hectares.

Of the 68 bushland sites, 8 are regionally significant whilst the others are locally significant. There exist smaller remnant pockets in approximately 150 other reserves, that are important for local
biological linking and therefore retained. However, it is only the 68
bushland sites that are the subject of specific conservation programmes as per Green Plan 2 . The Local Biodiversity Strategy offers a more holistic approach to the management of natural areas across the City and identifies not only bushland reserves, but coastal and wetland reserves and land managed by other government
agencies, private landowners and areas defined as regional parks.

Notable examples of significant bushland are Star Swamp Bushland Reserve, Trigg Bushland Reserve, Dianella Regional Open Space and Cottonwood Crescent Bushland Reserve.
