This committee considers reports from the Planning and Development Directorate of the City. The nature of the reports presented to this committee covers Health issues (Liquor Licensing, Noise, Prosecutions), Building license requests (non conforming), Land matters (closure of Public Access Ways, leases) and Planning matters (Scheme amendments, group developments, policy development, planning studies, non conforming applications).

Standing Committees meet once a month and consider information provided verbally and in reports by specialist City officers. The Committee then decides on a course of action and makes a recommendation to be considered at the next Council meeting.

Standing Committee meetings are attended by 7 Councillors; other Councillors attend as observers, the Divisional Manager concerned and senior members of the Division's staff according to the business to be discussed.
